HTC made some waves with the new Sense UI for Android, which it unveiled with the HTC Hero last week. It looks like the company will be bringing some of the attractive concepts from the new overlay to their Windows Mobile handsets soon with TouchFLO 3D 2.5.

The unofficial update is currently in the wild and has been detailed by a few folks over at XDA-Developers. A number of changes are being reported by the users, though none are, of course, guaranteed until HTC confirms the features will make it on the production version.

Notable updates include widget support (just like Sense) including native Windows Mobile ones, assignable home screen shortcuts, an updated messaging module, a revamped contacts layout, an upgraded media player interface, a new "Footprints" tab (similar to the GPS/photo app found in the Touch Cruise) and various settings changes. TouchFLO 3D 2.5 is expected to debut on HTC's upcoming Firestone "super phone", which is rumored to be packing a 600GHz Qualcomm 8250 processor to go with a 3.6-inch screen and an 8-megapixel camera.

Some users are reporting certain amounts of lag even on higher end models, which hints that the update is likely not going to make it to HTC's older, less-powerful devices. Other than that, feedback seems pretty positive overall.
