Drift Mania Championship Pairs Great Physics With Solid Drift Controls

Drift Mania Championship, a new driving game in the App Store, brings a whole host of great things for a 99-cent title.  We're talking seriously good, to the point that it's easily one of the best driving titles I've seen in a mobile platform.

As the name implies, gameplay involves oversteering an onscreen car over challenging tracks, creating plenty of awesome stunts in the process.  With a great physics engine and a clever control system, it makes for an immensely fun game that can really suck you in for hours on end.

The accurate control system is a real highlight for Drift Mania.  You steer by tilting the phone, accelerate by sliding your thumb up and down on the right side of the display, and hand-brake using a button on the lower left corner.   Everything is done precisely, so you can do some crazy things once you get the hang of how the physics system interacts with your actions.

Only three race tracks are available in the game, with one car to start and four vehicles to unlock.  That's not much, but the replay value of each track is high, so it's all well and good.  Scores are computed by the speed of the vehicle and the length of your drifts, with additional points for style, combo drifts and other fancy stunts.

Game additions, such as tie-ins with the DMCC Drift League, great tunes, a replay feature and an online leaderboard (available from the Drift Mania website) make for a complete racing experience.  It's an impressively well-rounded game for the 99-cent price.
